Neil started proposing to Roshni the day after their first date. She just didn’t know it. He sent her a card thanking her for their first date and the last letter of the last word in that card was “W”. And so it went throughout their two year dating…he sent cards for special occasions or just because, and the last letter of the last word on each card added up to “Will you marry m” – the last card ended with an “e” and that my friends, is one of the most romantic proposal I have ever heard! As many couple we meet with say, when you know, you know! With such an amazing proposal, an amazing wedding celebration was sure to follow. These gorgeous photos tell the story of all the colors, traditions, beauty and awe that was their wedding weekend! Their Sangeet started on Saturday and was inspired by a Morrocan accents. Sunday, downtown Raleigh was filled with guests – including a camel! – for the Bhaarat which concluded with a banana stump cutting ceremony.
Guests were greeted with bright red and white decor as they entered for the wedding ceremony. It was a lively event filled with blessings and even little jokes for the couple. I love that the parents were seated under the Mandap with the couple!
Roshni’s cutting skills were tested at this traditional Well Ceremony – cutting a coconut is not easy!
Did I mention that garment, jewelry, shoe, hair and makeup changes? Absolutely amazing – but what a long day, hair and makeup started at 5:00a.m. and the wedding reception went well past midnight. Roshni and Neil managed to look radiant throughout the day!
The reception was decked out in hues of blue and purple with crystal and orchids everywhere! After their first dance and the fabulous food, several family and friends gave speeches and there were plenty of surprises – a photo montage video and a flash mob dance! And of course, there was lots of dancing. The music ranged from traditional Coorgi and Hindi, to popular Bollywood choices, to modern hits – something for everyone!
The Erin McLean Events Team had so much fun being part of this celebration, thank you, Roshni and Neil for an unforgettable experience.
