At Erin McLean Events, we have been so blessed to have worked with over 30 military couples. Our groom this past Saturday had been deployed in Afghanistan for a year. We have been with our brides here while their brave soldiers fight overseas.
Today and everyday I want to say “Thank You!”
This photo above is of my Grandma and Grandpa Woods. It makes me so happy! They have been the two most influential people in my life. My grandfather had just come home from Germany during World War II. My grandmother held down the home front working multiple jobs and raising five children. My Grandfather was a hero, he led the unit that liberated one of the first concentration camps, an experience that he would later tell me changed who he was forever. There was a sadness in his eyes as he stoically told me about his experience and shared an edited version of what he saw. I was an inquisitive middle schooler who wanted to interview him for my paper. I was so proud to share his story to my class, not fully understanding the true depth of his tale. Love for our country was something we took seriously I remember going to the VFW with him and my Grandma to collect poppies to sell at our church and remember fondly how proud he was of the American Flag and learning the proper fold learning to treat it with solemn reverence.
I look back at that time and wish with all of my heart that today I could sit down with both of them and learn more about everything in their life. So it is with great pride that I share this photo of the two people who knew nothing but hard work, love for our country, and taught me to love my country. So, whether your team “won” or “lost” last week we should be thankful that we live in this great country and thank those who fought to keep our freedom. Let’s take today to honor those in service, their wives and fiances, who stay home and support from afar. I thank you all so very much, there are no words!
God Bless America,
I love Halloween!!
I think it is so much fun and allows us all to be creative and feel like we are kids again! I wait every year to hand out candy. Tom and I carve our pumpkins Halloween night and I roast a chicken and all sorts of fall veggies. Another reason why I love it is because I get to see my three nieces all dressed up:
Emma is the cutest little piglet, Nora in all of her ringlets is the world’s best bee, and to never be out done my darling Gracie is Darth Vader. How rock star is that?
I had to share my obsession
Happy New Year!!!
I saw this picture from Whitney English, who I am so happy have gotten to meet and know this year. It was absolutley perfect for my “Bring on 2012″ post!
I am so blessed to have had such an amazing 2011. I am so grateful for my supportive family, perfect fit of a husband, a thriving business, wonderful adventures, and phenomenal friends.
Normally, I am always ready to welcome a new year. Last night I started getting a little sad to say goodbye to 2011. It was an unbelievable year. As I look back I can see that so many of my goals that I set for myself and my business were accomplished. It is such a sense of accomplishment, but also a challenge to set bigger goals for next year. Scary, in such an exhilarating way!
A year ago when I sat down to write out my goals they seemed so lofty and unattainable. I knew I would figure out a way to make it happen. I did, and am so thankful.
So, as I sit here today with my journal I am going to push myself even more next year. I want to give my clients an excellent planning experience, I want my design to be stronger and more creative, I want my husband, family, and friends to know how much I love and appreciate them, and most importantly I want to be present in all moments this year.
I am so excited and am ready to knock the socks off of 2012!!!!
Happy Monday Everyone!! I hope you had a wonderful weekend!
Erin McLean Events had a huge milestone last weekend: 100 Weddings! Wow, 100 Weddings! It is a number that seems crazy to me. Because I remember every single couple and wedding like it was yesterday! I still can picture the moment that I sent Claire down the aisle out at Celebrity Dairy at my first wedding. I remember my fear when the air conditioning unit dripped on their gorgeous custard (horrified!). Most importantly, I remember loving every minute of their day! I fell in love with wedding planning!
I had the pleasure of working with Trisha and Adam for their wedding at the gorgeous Carolina Inn. Trisha was a bride with great ideas and style, she was just unsure how to bring it all together. That is where I came in. We worked on the overall event design and planning to have a gorgeous and flawless wedding for this awesome couple!
I was beyond excited to receive this email from the Mother of the Bride Monday morning:
Good morning, sunshine. Just had to let you know what a fantastic job you did for us on Trisha’s wedding. Everything went off beautifully, and I think for sure that Trish had the wedding of her dreams. She has done nothing but praise you all weekend long.
Again, you were absolutely GREAT, and Trish and I both will highly recommend you to any of our friends or family should the need for a wedding planner arise. We have been working with you since June, and I feel like you have become one of the family. We will miss you.
Warmest and sincerest regards,
I have been so fortunate the past four years to do what I love. Thank you so much to all of my couples and families that have allowed me into your lives! I am so thankful!!
I am so incredibly excited to share my new branding with all of you!!
As I entered my 4th year of business this past year, I realized the look and feel of Erin McLean Events needed to feel more more authentic, more me. What did that even mean? Good question!
In January I had the great fortune of attending a workshop called Making Things Happen. It was there that I really started identify who my ideal bride is. I have always wanted to be a great fit for my brides and vice versa. Making Things Happen was a huge eye opener for me. It made me a better business owner, wife, sister, friend, and planner. I knew that I was a very good wedding planner and designer, but I needed my branding to feel like me.
For 2011, I wanted to truly focus on creating a great experience for my couples from start to finish. To do this, I enlisted the help of some truly talented women. Lara Casey and Emily Ley with Making Brands Happen. Then the real work began!
So, drum roll please…
Thank you to Cathy Olson for doing such a gorgeous job on my new site and blog!
I truly love what I do. I am so blessed to have a job that makes me excited to get up in the morning and come to work. I am always wanting to learn more and grow as a person, professionally and personally. I have put a lot of work into not only the new branding, but in the operations and day to day of Erin McLean Events. I am so excited to share all of this with you.
I will be focusing my blog on Real Weddings, Entertaining ideas, DIY Projects, and all things inspiring.
Thank you so much for visiting my new site! I hope you enjoy!!
