Gold Invitation Suite

Carly was a classic beauty and timeless bride. She and her mother were such a delight to plan with throughout the process. It was important to both Carly and Earl that their marriage remain the center focus of their celebration. They wanted to incorporate details that were personal to them and their relationship. They chose Prestonwood Country club since Cary is where Carly grew up! She also has her new monogram embroidered into her gown for her walk down the aisle, which also happened to be in blue! In bringing Carly’s vision for her wedding day to life, she knew she wanted a classic and elegant theme, but wanted to bring the outdoors inside the reception. We were able to do this through gorgeous centerpieces, cool hedging, and warm amber uplighting to illuminate the space.

The crystal detail added to her bouquet was just stunning. We wanted to maintain that timeline feel but add a surprise element of  old world glamour.

Dressing up the ballroom at Prestonwood isn’t hard – it is such a beautiful space in it’s own rite. We chose a color palette that played on its classic style and enhanced it with a little bit of glamour. Partnering with Fresh Affairs we sprinkled the ballroom with alternating height centerpieces, creating dimension and flow throughout the space. Carly loved warm classic colors, tying in ivories, blush tones, and pops of champagne sparkle n the linens. Incorporation the fresh greenery, ruscus, into the centerpieces brought the essence of summer indoors and added a natural texture.

Carly selected calligraphy Myra Jestor of Well Addressed Calligraphy for all of her paperie. We wanted to highlight her pristine craftsmanship into the reception. We added classic floral place cards and custom bar signage created by Myra as well as a stunning mirrored seating chart displayed on hedging during cocktail hour.

Carly + Earl were gifted with a live painter for their reception. Maggie was able to capture the gorgeous space and the couple’s first dance! What an amazing keepsake.

Carly and Earl wanted to send their guests home with a classic Carolina treat – what could be more fitting than Cheerwine and fresh Krispey Kreme doughnuts, both born in NC!

Terentia and Anthony’s Wedding at The Grandover | Erin McLean Events | Greensboro Wedding Planner

Terentia and Anthony were such a fun couple to work with! They planned the entire wedding from Arizona and it was amazing to be at The Grandover in Greensboro, NC to make sure that all the plans went smoothly the day of the wedding. Terentia was calm and flexible when we had to move the ceremony inside due to rain. The ceremony turned out beautifully, with Terentia’s godmother officiating the ceremony.2013-05-18

The couple chose to accent the room with purples, violets and indigos with a lavender uplighting which looked beautiful. The music was really unique at Terentia and Anthony’s wedding as an amazing jazz band played during the cocktail hour and the groom’s cousin DJ’ed the after-dinner dancing.

With Terentia belonging to a sorority, during the reception all of the girls surrounded her and sang a sorority song. Then Anthony and the men from his fraterntiy did the same. At the end, Anthony got down on his knee and sang the last verse of the song solo to his new bride. By the end, she had tears in her eyes – it was a really sweet moment.View More: http://danalaymon.pass.us/williams

Brimley Bash Success! – Raleigh Event Planner

What an amazing honor it was to plan an event with The Friends of the NC Museum of Natural Sciences Brimley Society! The Brimley Bash took place on April 26th and delivered “a feast for the senses: dazzling lights, musical performances, dancing, divine food and delectable libations” while celebrating the one-year anniversary of the Nature Research Center opening. A Living Red Carpet, Champagne Chandelier aerialists and a never-before-seen-in-Raleigh ice curtain, greeted guests! Entertainment throughout the night ranged from a jazz trio, one of Raleigh’s best party bands and a video DJ to close out the evening. Music wasn’t the only entertainment as a long list of heavy hors d’oeuvres and specialty drinks were displayed and passed for attendees to enjoy and experience.  Museum Director, Emlyn Koster and Special Guest, Soames Summerhays addressed the crowd and mingled with Brimley goers. Décor was inspired by the SECU Daily Planet Theater’s shape and sparkled with purples, lime greens, crystals and candles. Special thanks to all the vendors and Brimley Society volunteers who worked with Erin McLean Events to make the Brimley Bash an event to remember!

Sacred Heart Cathedral and Second Empire Tavern Wedding | Raleigh NC Wedding Planner

Ann Marie and Peter had a beautiful ceremony at Sacred Heart Cathedral with a reception at The Second Empire. Peter was deployed for a year before the wedding, so we planned remotely with him while he was overseas in Afghanistan serving our country. Ann Marie is in medical school.  They are the sweetest couple that love each other so much, and love to laugh! I am so happy to know this couple and bringing this special event together for this amazing couple.

Planning your Wedding: Which Coordinator is Right for You?

When it comes time to plan your wedding, you will find that there are so many decisions to make. One of the biggest things to keep in mind in those preliminary planning stages is what, and who you need to help you throughout the process.

F8 Photo Studios

Day-Of Coordinator:

A day-of coordinator works for you. This is a great  option for the go-get er’ brides that want to plan their whole wedding, but be able to relax the day-of by handing over the reins to a experienced professional who can ensure everything happens according to plan.

Although a day-of coordinator helps less with the details in the planning stage, they will make sure that all of the details come to fruition in the execution stage. They will give you a personalized timeline for the day to make sure things go smoothly, and they will also be the point-of-contact for the vendors should anything go wrong. A dedicated day-of coordinator will be there long before the event to make sure that everything is getting set up on schedule. At the end of the event, the day-of coordinator will help pack up and make sure that all personal items have been collected.

Kevin Milz Photography and Whitebox Weddings

Wedding Planner:

A wedding planner also works for you. The difference between a day-of coordinator and a planner is that a planner will help you with every aspect of the wedding. They will help you pick out a venue and suggest vendors based on your budget and your vision.

Planners have one thing that most brides-to-be don’t. Wedding experience! Planners know the potential pitfalls of a wedding from start-to-finish. They will help you avoid them and steer you in a direction that can get you your dream wedding while staying on budget. This personalized one-on-one service means that if there is a question, or a problem arises, your planner can help. From start-to-finish, your planner will help with everything to make sure that your day is perfect.

Jagg Photography

Venue Coordinator:

A venue coordinator works for the venue that you book. Their job consists of a variety of things including; selling the venue, giving a tour to potential clients and working on the details for the food service  setup, and arranging the menu. One of the most important things they will do for you is to ensure that the venue staff stays is ready to go, that the food service is excellent and that they venue is doing it’s best for you!

Venue coordinators love when the couple has a good wedding planner in place because it allows them to focus on what they need to do, which is oversee the venue staff during the event.

Story Photographers

Church Coordinator:

A church coordinator is someone whose job consists of making sure that nothing in the wedding ceremony conflicts with the church schedule or belief system. They will schedule and attend the rehearsal, and also orchestrate the ceremony. However, they will not help with the reception after the ceremony.

Bay 7 Wedding- Durham Wedding Planner

Caitlin and Chris were married in March at this stunning Bay 7 wedding! I loved working with Caitlin! Such classic and elegant taste! The couple is based in DC and will be moving to London soon!

Caitlin and Chris were married under the Lucky Strike Tower. So cool!

Caitlin wanted it to feel as if it was a dinner party at her home. Because of the large guest count we mixed the table shapes and sizes, hung chandeliers and had a lot of candle light!

Chris and Caitlin are big foodies. Chris loves Enteman’s donut holes and Caitlin loves the cheese plate after dinner (my kind of girl!) So we brought both out after dinner. As guests left the reception they were greeted by the Only Burger truck. Delish!

The newlywed’s went on stage at the end of the night while Chris sang “You Shook Me All Night Long.” It was fantastic!! What a great celebration of such a great couple!

Don't get swamped with your To Do's!

What a great idea! Throughout the planning process, even the most organized bride can border on Bridezilla. Let’s face it, there is  a lot to do and it can be overwhelming! But the geniuses over at Whomi came up with these great To Do Pads!

People want to help you with your planning but they often don’t know how. Can it get any easier??

Fall is here!!

I love Fall!!I grew up in PA, so I love when it gets chillier. I absolutely love Fall Weddings! I think it is because of the decor options. Weddings to me are all about texture and colors. In Fall, why not incorporate some crushed velvet, burlap, or twigs.

There are so many great ways to incorporate the season. I love reds, browns, oranges, golds, and green. But, you can also use softer colors. I am currently in love with grouping pale blues, pale pinks, light gold, and brown together. It is a elegant, classic, and simple.

I saw this cake on Martha Stewart and love it:

I love carrying over that look into the centerpieces, but the possibilities are endless.

I love this idea of using white pumpkins and gourds and white candles. How fun is this??

Play up fall produce in your food. Why not use a pumpkin soup and an apple orchard salad?

These are just a few thoughts about fall. There are so many unique and fabulous ideas!
