DIY Friday! Seersucker napkin rings

June 29

Happy DIY Friday! We love the idea of seersucker anything, so when we saw something similar in one of our favorite magazines we had to try it! These would be perfect for the 4th of July!

All you need is:

-1/4 to 1/2 yard of seersucker fabric

-Sewing machine and matching thread

-pins

-stitching needle

-snaps and decorative buttons

-scissors

-measuring tool

- iron

Start by measuring the fabric to 5 1/2 x 8 inches.

Then cut!

Pin right sides together to form a rectangle.

Sew the edge together to form a tube.

Turn the tube right side out.

Lay the tube flat and center the seam.

Iron it flat.

Fold the ends in 1/4 of an inch and sew together.

Next sew the snaps onto the ends.

Finish it off by sewing it on the white buttons.

All that’s left is to add your napkin and set your table!

Happy DIY Friday!

Wedding Tip Thursday!

June 28

It’s not over ‘til the fat lady sings…so, what about after it’s over? After all the planning, after the ceremony, after the reception – there is one final step. Someone needs to be responsible for taking home all your stuff. And by stuff, I mean items such as the: guest book, toasting goblets, cake cutting utensils, card box, left over favors, and of course the gifts! I strongly encourage you to take the time to make a list of anything you will want taken home the night of the wedding. Supply this list to your wedding planner, the event location coordinator and of course, the person who will be taking the items home. Choosing this person can be difficult. They need to be willing to stay until the VERY end of the night after the reception is over. They also need to be, well, sober – and have a vehicle large enough to take all your items home. A lot of couples will choose their parents but if you have another option, it’s nice to have your folks just relax at the end of the night. The key is to plan in advance for this and make certain you communicate the request and provide the list of items. You’ll be able to enjoy your send off with the confidence that all is taken care of…even when it’s over.

DIY Friday! Personalized Straws

June 22

Happy DIY Friday! We love the idea of signature drinks and we are working on ways to make them even more fun for our upcoming wedding! We ordered paper straws in the wedding colors and added small tags to them for an extra special touch! These could be customized to your colors and any shape you want!

All you need is:

- Straws

-Cardstock

-Paper cutter

-Single hole punch

How cute are these? We got these online.

Start by creating a table in the size you want. We made each table 1.5 inches tall and 2 inches wide. Print on your cardstock.

Trim the tags with your paper cutter.

Next punch two holes on the edge with space in between.

Slide the tag on your straw through both holes.

You are all set! We love the idea of these with lemonade or signature drinks!

Happy DIY Friday!

Who attends the Wedding Rehearsal? Wedding Tip Thursday!

June 21

Who should come to the rehearsal? This question seems to get overlooked and then suddenly, it’s time for the rehearsal and many of the key participants aren’t there! So, let’s clear this up. In short, anyone having anything to do with the ceremony should be at the rehearsal. This includes:

- The musicians playing the ceremony music (If at all possible…if not, playing the music from you phone or even from a CD player would be a nice touch so participants can hear the music which will act as cues for them.)

- The sound technician (To practice with microphones and make certain you have all the sound equipment you need.)

- Anyone escorting someone down the aisle during the processional

- Anyone being escorted down the aisle (grandparents, etc.) during the processional

- The parents/step-parents of the Bride and Groom (assuming they will be part of the processional and/or ceremony itself)

- All bridesmaids, groomsmen, junior attendants, flower girl and ring bearer (Anyone who will walk down the aisle during the processional)

- Anyone doing a reading during the ceremony

- Anyone singing/playing an instrumental solo during the ceremony

- The pastor/preacher/officiant

- The wedding planner

- And of course…the Bride and Groom!

Make sure all of the participants are aware of the time and location of the rehearsal at least a month in advance so they can plan accordingly. Everything will run so much more smoothly on the day of the wedding if everyone has had a chance to practice. After all, practice makes perfect!

Happy Planning!

Wedding Gown Wednesday!

June 20

Happy Wedding Gown Wednesday!

Do you love this gown or would you leave it?

Camila Alves wed her longtime beau, Matthew McConaughey, in Texas last week, and now we have all the details on what she wore for her walk down the aisle! Alves asked family friend and fellow Brazilian Ducarmo Castelo Branco, 78, to design her embellished lace gown, which was handmade in the bride’s native country by eight seamstresses. “Ducarmo has been making wedding dresses for her entire life,” Alves, told People. “I guess you can say she has been planning this design for over 20 years.”

Upping the sparkle, she topped off the dress with a diamond Neil Lane headpiece and 10-carat earrings, featuring pear-shaped center diamonds, before slipping into Stuart Weitzman heels.
